Souq Al Fresh sells fresh fruit and vegetables, dates and nuts, fish, meat, chicken, juices and fruit baskets online in Abu Dhabi, sourced from the city’s Mina market. Its storefront reads in Arabic and English side by side, prices in dirhams, with “Delivery in Abu Dhabi” in the header. The website, the Android app and the iOS app run on one Shoopy store.
The problem: fresh produce, promised for a time of day
Fresh produce is not a parcel. A customer ordering vegetables and fish wants to know when they will arrive, not just that they will, and the shop needs to pack close to the delivery time. Souq Al Fresh’s store had to:
- Offer the customer a choice of delivery time, and let them book the next day’s slot the evening before.
- Serve the whole of Abu Dhabi from one location with one clear delivery charge.
- Hand each order to a rider without a phone call.
- Speak to customers in both of the city’s languages, on the website and in the apps.
Four delivery slots a day
The store runs four named delivery slots: morning (8 AM to 12 PM), noon (12 to 3 PM), afternoon (3 to 6 PM) and evening (6 to 8 PM). A customer picks a slot at checkout, and orders are accepted up to one day ahead, so tomorrow’s morning delivery can be booked tonight. The shipping policy describes the same shape in words — same-day delivery, next-day delivery for orders placed after 9 PM, and orders processed within three hours.
One zone for the city
Rather than a set of narrow bands, Souq Al Fresh runs a single active distance zone that covers Abu Dhabi out to 35 km, with one flat delivery charge and free delivery above an order value. The customer sets their location in the header before shopping, so the store knows it can serve them before the basket is filled.
Riders on the Delivery Partner App
Riders use the Shoopy Delivery Partner App. The owner assigns local deliveries to staff from the Shoopy Business app; riders join by invitation from the store’s admin, and each assignment arrives in the rider’s app with the customer’s address and details. At the door the rider confirms the delivery with the customer’s OTP and a photo of the packet.
Arabic and English, website and apps
Every category and product on the store carries its name in both languages — “Vegetables | خضروات”, “Fruit Baskets | سلال الفاكهة” — and the apps do the same. Customers can shop on the website, in the Android app or in the iOS app, all under the Souq Al Fresh name and published under the merchant’s own developer account. All three read the same catalogue, prices and stock.
Who this model fits
A fresh-produce or grocery business serving one city that wants to promise a time of day, not just a delivery, and to keep its own storefront and customer list. The tools are settings on a Shoopy plan: delivery zones and slots, the Delivery Partner App, branded apps and orders and inventory in one system. UAE plans and payments are on the UAE pricing page.
